Midland General Hospital Portlaoise

In 2022 MF Services was awarded the contract for the expansion of the Access Control System for the Midlands General Hospital, Portlaoise, providing door automation and access control integration.

Contracted by Coffey Electrical, MF Services successfully completed this project in an extremely short timeframe, causing minimal disruption within the hospital.

Access Control Integration:

Full access control integration was provided across 12 restricted area control doors.  This included integrating the existing ACTpro card readers with HID Card format into the existing Access Control server.

This system controls the movement of staff and visitors within the hospital as well as:

• Enabling the hospital to maintain secure access control to restricted areas
• Administration and control of Visitor Management
• Improved Health & Safety measures through the control of movement of staff and visitors

Server Upgrade:

The Access Control Server was upgraded to facilitate future expansions and to improve the overall experience of the security personnel.

Door Automation:

Door automation was provided on the existing Isolation Room in the Medical Assessment Unit (MAU).  MF Services retro-fitted the Sesamo Smartpro Heavy Duty Operator on the existing Double Swing Doors and integrated this into the Access Control system.  Upgrading the existing manual swing doors to automatic doors meets the increased hygienic requirements for this isolation area.

Sesamo Smartpro:

• Tested to over 1 million cycles.
• Doors of up to 1400mm wide and weights of up to 250KG can be accommodated.
• Fire rated operator for both internal or external, and single and double door-sets.
• Designed to automate any type of swing door assisting in creating universal access.

Maintenance:

MF Services was also awarded the maintenance contract by the hospital, providing preventative maintenance through conducting yearly checks and offering an emergency response should it be required.
